SoundCure is a group of people from Ipswich, Suffolk in the UK, who came together at the start of 2017 in order to raise funds to support people living with dementia. Through our own experiences of relatives with dementia, we knew that their lives can be enhanced through music.

Music offers a direct connection to the past and enables lost memories to surface again, often after years of being forgotten. Friends and family are able to reconnect with their loved one for a precious moment. Names are recalled, memories return, lives are remembered.

We are staging a series of entertainment events in Ipswich beginning in October 2017 and continuing until autumn 2018. Our target is to raise £20,000 to provide a summerhouse for the Ipswich Hospital Constable Suite, equipped for playing music for patients and enabling people to enjoy the garden in all weathers.

Our events, which will take place at Greshams on the outskirts of Ipswich, will include a general knowledge quiz and an entertaining mix of music and dance from the 1940s to the 1980s, decades which feature heavily in the lives and memories of those we want to support.
